WHAT WE DO
The Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity assists children who are
- seriously ill; or
- have a permanent disability;
- 21 years of age or under; and/or
- permanent residents of Ontario, approved refugee or Landed Immigrant status
Our charity acts as a financial safety net, helping families when all other resources have run out. For this reason, we ask that every attempt to access support from government and other service agencies and your own resources must be made before JACC can consider an application.
An application does not guarantee our assistance. It guarantees careful consideration for financial aid by our Advisory Board. We aspire to help as many children and families as possible with our limited funds. Therefore only those we determine to be in crisis or with the most immediate need can be considered.
We consider requests for assistance in the following areas as they relate to the child’s illness:
- Emergency financial relief (excludes mortgages)
- Respite for a pre-determined period of time
- Developmental therapies (excluding Hyperbaric Oxygen, ABA, IBI or RDI therapy)
- Educational programs, materials, instruction
- Specially adapted computer equipment, software and communication devices
- Medical treatments not covered by government health plans or insurance (excludes equipment)
- Recreation that promotes a child’s involvement in the community
To Request Assistance:
Please call the Charity office at 905.852.1799 Ext. 22 or 23 or toll free at 1.866.268.9187 and ask for a Request for Assistance form. The form may be completed by the child’s parent, physician, therapist, social worker, teacher or community liaison.
